TRAFFIC

There are two ways to drive traffic to your site: (1) paid traffic such as from Google Adwords or Yahoo advertising, and then (2) organic traffic from search engines.

When we’re talking about getting traffic organically, basically it’s just a matter of good onsite content and backlinks to your site from other sites.

The process of generating organic traffic is referred to as Search Engine Optimization (SEO). Search engines respond to content (which is the on-site factor) and backlinks (which are the offsite factors). You want to create as many quality backlinks to your site as you can, and you want you site content to be quality material and keyword targeted for your market.

The free site promotion techniques are:

1. Submit your site to web site directories.

2. Write at least 8 unique articles and submit them to various article directories. Ezine Articles is the most powerful article directory.  Power Tip: After your article is published in an article directory, boost it by bookmarking the articles with Digg.com, Propeller.com and Del.icio.us, and other such bookmarking sites.

3. Create pages on Squidoo.com, Wordpress.com, Blogspot and Hubpages.com.  Link those back to your web site homepage.  Power Tip: Use bookmarking services such as Digg and Propeller to bookmark these sites.

4. Post to blogs and use your signature file to link back to your site.

5. Post to related forums and use your signature file to link back to your site.

6. Ask other web sites and blogs to post a link to your site.

7. Create and post short videos.  Use Traffic Geyser to distribute your videos.

The paid promotion techniques are:

8. Use Linkvana to deeplink to pages on your site. This gets those pages indexed.

9. Buy links through Digital Point marketplace.

The first step is to get all your site pages indexed.  Then you want to see your site pages ranked for the keywords of interest to your market. You want to attract "buyers"... find and target those keywords.

To see the pages of your site that Google has indexed, simply type this command into Google: site:www.harrison-palmore.com  For your site type: site:www.yoursitename.com  The ressult will show you the pages Google has indexed.

After your site pages are indexed, you want to see them get good ranking in the search engines. High page ranking generally means more traffic coming to your site page.

To see how your page ranks for some keyword, simply type that keyword into the search engine, such as Google, and look at the list of sites that are presented. The displayed page is called a Search Engine Result Page (SERP)

You would like to see your site show-up on page one of the Google SERP for your keyword, but that takes some work for any competitive keyword. It's not easy.  Good content and many quality backlinks helps you get high a page ranking. The process of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) helps you get that high page ranking in the SERPs.

You can always use paid advertising to drive traffic to your site for your desired keywords. The Google Adwords program does that.  Google makes 97% of it's revenue from Adwords.  Google makes over $7 billion each quarter, as of 2011. That's over $28 billion each year, and their revenue growing. It comes mostly from Adwords.  Adwords is a golden fountain for Google.
